So I guess Paul McGann is going to Sydney Armageddon next year. D:
It's kinda sad, but I'm kinda wondering if I can afford to go do Sydney for it. I do want to go to Melbourne sometime next year also.
Wait - Sydney's only one day. Hrrrmmmmmm.
Could make a day-trip of it I suppose.

Hullo folks,
Been a while since I've posted, so what's going on aye?
-- Recently I pinky-swore that I'd get into shape, so the last week and a bit I've been good and have been on the treadmill. My muscles feel fit to go *twaaaaangSNAP* soon, but hopefully a combination of exercise and not eating like a pig will help to shed some kilos and get rid of this beer-gut I've got forming =P (maybe I should just lay off the Guinness? HAH-- not whilst I'm alive.)
-- I'm starting to get in my mindset where I want to start planning costumes and whatnot again, though I haven't really had time to sit down and do that yet. I have been trying to budget though, and I'm trying to knock off my car loan as quick as possible. If I add an extra $150 each fortnight, I should have it paid off by the end of February.
-- It's nine weeks till Christmas and I haven't started Christmas shopping. FARRRRRRRRRK.
-- I managed to track down some Kryolan aquacolor paints via ebay - but I think I'll investigate how to place an order through Latonas for next time. I've emailed them and they say I can do it, I just don't know exactly how.
-- Paul discovered another cupcake parlour over Chermside way - Carousels. Their cakes are pretty tasty, although the West End store definitely still wins for actual shop presentation. I expect him to do a Cupcake Parlour tour de Brisbane some time soon =P Heh.
-- Have been joining in on laser skirmish every month or so recently so we bought some camos. My pants were second hand, but the worn in nature of them means they're the most comfortable pants I own now =P hah.
-- NaNoWriMo starts on sunday. I fully intend on giving it my best shot again this year, but first i need an idea.. Hopefully i'll at least get a page written this year. =P
Welp, I ought to go to bed.
Cheerio folks.

Hey folks,
Today I decided to stop being a completely slack silly person and I re-packed my fabric crates so I could put my crates away. Going through I found a bunch of fabrics that I purchased/acquired ages ago for some reason or other but in refinding them think they'd be perfect for other projects.

Scuse the camera phone pic - this one I found I reckon would be great for a regency dress - there's certainly enough of it. Stripes are okay for regency, aren't they? I need to do research again.
Anywho, finding stuff is cool.

This may be, without a doubt, the best thing I've seen on TV all day, if not ever.
For context, please note that the movie called March of the Penguins was titled March of the Emperor in France.

Hi folks,
Last night I was naughty and stayed up well past my bedtime (consequently feeling like I've been hit by a truck, but oh well) - but I did finally get around to screen-capping Doctor Who serial, "Arc of Infinity" for the Councillor Thallia outfit. YAAAAAY. As far as the Doctor Who costumes I want to do go, this is probably the ultimate - if only due to the comparitive scale. The Time Lord collar thing is probably going to be the trickiest, because I don't usually work with hard props. Anywho, caps ahoi.

Hi folks,
I finished marathoning 15 discs worth of Voltron today. 15! Augh. The things I do for the amusement of my fellow man. I need to watch something of quality now.
Anywho - I've been live-tweeting the entire experience (because apparently the lack of context rendered it hillarious) and I resolved to gather those tweets afterwards to record it for posterity's sake.
So if anyone's interested - please find 15 discs worth of tweet-spam below.

Hi folks,
JB are doing it again - selling me my childhood one box set at a time. They've finally released a complete collection of Voltron and He-man (instead of the versions that were about 7 box sets each), and I broke and bought Voltron. I can get He-man next pay day.
So this afternoon/evening I've been marathoning Lion-Force Voltron. It's sort of awesomely cheesey and bad.
Which brings me to this - I sorta wanna make a Princess Allura costume.
Hey Princess Allura - Sleeping Beauty called. She wants her dress back.
I like the dress, but it's a lot of pink. If I lose weight, I could always do her flight suit (which I seem to be unable to find a picture of, but is basically the same as everyone elses' except pink).
Anywho, back to watching.

Hullo folks,
Today I dragged my sorry carcass out of bed at an ungodly hour to make my very first and unaccompanied trek to Fort Lytton for History Alive. Neato. It constantly occurs to me that I seem to mainly go to these shindigs to watch the NVG beat the living crap out of each other, but there's other fun as well. The fort was nifty, watching the British and co. reclaiming the Fort back from the French was neat (and very loud), catching up with people always good.
Paul's in India at the moment (probably on his way home by now actually), so lamented not being around for the "earth-shattering kabooms" </mavin-the-martian>. I was tasked with taking lots of photos, and I think I managed to grab a fair few at least.
I managed to get stuck watching Prima Spada a couple of times - they're hypnotically terrible. I get what they're supposed to be, but what they are is a horrible farce. All their movements are just sub-standard choreography - they've got no real idea of footwork, and they don't seem to be able to actually fight properly. Listening to the guy talk about why Rapiers were excellent because it gave them the advantage of distance and then watching them attempt to fight so close as to negate any benefit of having that distance was just silly. The exaggerated way they move around makes for very inefficient and clumsy looking sword-play. Every time I see these guys I just get a little bit more frustrated. It's the sort of thing that makes me want to work real hard and become an awesome fencer just so I can challenge one of these guys to a duel and wipe the floor clean with them. Ahem.
I forgot to bring my magical hat of +5 fire resistance, so my face is slightly burned. My own darn fault though, so I've been slathering aloe vera on my face. It's kinda gross.
It was a pretty alright day though - I thought I'd have much more trouble with driving and parking than I did - the Fort being just up the road, it was very convenient, though having rained earlier the roads were shiny and I couldn't see anything. It's all good though.
Anywho, I'm pretty sure it's bed-time so I'm going to halt this rambling dialogue before I start griping about the School of Dance again.
Toodles.

In other news, I got a haircut. I has a fringe now. I didn't think of it when I went in and decided that I wanted a) a fringe and b) to try and go straight/lose my usual layers, but apparently my subconscious wanted me to have a Silk Spectre II haircut. I'll get a photo later. Depending on how I'm wearing it and makeup, it seems to give me a alternative/edgier look... Or something. It's different, whatever it is.

Hi folks,
I'm still around, fear not.
Website has been on the backburner for a bit - I think I'm going to work on organising some of the content first and do a whole bunch of screen capping before I even think (again) about actually investing in webhosting.
Currently I'm working on finally finishing some of my side project scarves - There's this great, rainbow coloured Cosy Wool I get from Lincraft that I'm using for the one I'm trying to finish for winter - I really need to stoclk up on that stuff. It rocks. When I'm done I'll take photos.
I'm thinking about cutting back on costumed events this year - costume-wise, I think I'm going to look towards Gen-Con. I've got projects I want to work on, and deciding to cut back on events gives me the freedom to focus on those.
My brother has asked me to help him with a Prince costume from Beauty and the Beast for his girlfriend's birthday Disney party. Should be an interesting challenge, but I suppose I did manage the Wonka frock coat. I may be able to pull it off. Maybe.
My current work contract is ending middle of May - I won't lie to you folks, I'm a little nervous about that. My current manager is sort of in her own little bubble, and possibly the least approachable person I've met. I asked her to follow up the Temporary Employment status form that I submitted when a more competant boss was doing her job - I can't say I'm not worried that it'll get actioned properly. It's encouraging though that my current work colleagues seem willing to rig various employees holidays to keep me on longer. But still... *whimper*
Welp... Night folks.

Hi Folks, just a quick poll. I thought before I dove in and got some webhosting, I'd put this up and see what everyone thought. I'm sort of leaning towards The Time Traveller's Wardrobe, but I'm not sure - so I'd value the input. Nothing like getting a domain name and then realise that you don't really like it that much.

I was tweeting about my website plans earlier in the day, and how I couldn't figure out how to get it organised, and Alistair mentioned that Wordpress was pretty awesome. I then spent the day mulling that over in my brain and I can't say I don't like the idea. It just might work.
I hadn't really thought of a blog based web page, but now I consider it, organisation via tags may actually be the most convenient way to manage this thing.
I kinda want to get started on this now, though I'll probably have to hang out til the weekend - so, tomorrow evening (squee, long weekend).

I was going to go to fencing tonight, but reconsidered due to being tired, sore, and a little bit sick (possible head cold), so here I am chilling with a glass of red. A glass of red does nicely for my sinus infection - if only the feeling could last :P Heh. Ah well.
Supanova is just past - kinda glad that it's over, though I did have a bundle of fun. Now it's time to relax for a bit.
As per the usual, I was finishing stuff way too late - but what I was working on actually turned out really well. I'm pretty pleased. I may have not been wearing the costumes personally, but I was pretty stoked the amount of times Paul got pulled over in his Wonka and Doctor costumes. ^_____^;;
I didn't end up pulling off my Destiny of the Daleks Romana - but at the same time, I do like my Leisure Hive Romana. It's still probably the best costume I've ever made so far (for me, that is). Next time though... Next time! >:D Mwhahahhah.
Was great seeing everyone elses fabulous costumes, and was great 1) catching up with
last_chael and 2) seeing her Silk Spectre I in real life. Pictures just don't really do it justice. And of course, having Luke and Darren as Cybermen was pretty kickass. :D
I have photos to post, and I will try and get them up soon - but here are the ones I posted on Twitter.
http://twitpic.com/2wpu2 - Paul as the Doctor and Luke and Darren as Cybermen. So awesome. Can't wait til I can get the snaps from the photoshoot the guy did when I snapped this one.
http://twitpic.com/2wpxx - Me as a Lemming (it ain't great) and Paul as Willy Wonka. Squee.
Something I realised this evening as we were looking at getting dinner ready, is that now Supanova is over, I can start looking in earnest at starting my Doctor Who reference site. Boogie :P I'm going to try and start on that soon, I think. I'll get the site design and organisation fleshed out a bit first, and then I'll look into actually getting some web hosting and such.
Anywho, I might try and get some stuff done, or at the least grab another glass of wine, so I'll be off.

Welp, as per the usual, I'm madly running out of time.
The frock coat is almost done (needs buttons, hemming and sleeves to be finished),
One vest is complete and the other is almost done (hand-stitching to go, ironing, and buttons),
The top hat is almost done (needs hat band),
I'm just starting on my skirt,
My green wig arrived today (and I'd rather like to mod it a bit)...
I'm thinking I'll take the unfinished vest and the frock coat to work tomorrow in order to finish that hand-sewing.
...
In other news, I figured out the one step button hole option on my sewing machine (FINALLY) with the help of the friendly Janome web helpy peoples. So that's awesome.
Also had my first go at rethreading Esme (my overlocker) the other day as well. We were successful, so all is well.
Anywho, I should really get back to making this skirt, I think. *nodnod*

For some reason when I'm absolutely swamped with things I need to do, I find things I'd just rather be doing and go with them instead. Silly, silly.
Tonight's example is several vague and horrid attempts at vintage hair.
I thought I'd take a few photos before gravity destroyed it all too much (I fail with bobby pins and I don't own any hair spray currently). This is what I got so far. Not much, but best I've been able to do.

Frock coat progress: I've finally gotten the collar and other various facings on - after I ironed it, it didn't look as hateful as previous, but it could still be better. *le sigh* Getting there though. Don't really want to sew all that lining, but it must be done I suppose.
I should probably go have some lunch right now, but I suspect the break will cause me to loose more time than I'd like.
